For the past three years I have been working as both an Environmental Engineer for a consulting company, and a Freelance Photographer working with brands in the Outdoor Industry. Although seemingly unrelated, the two couple in a way that that gives me a unique perspective, and allows me to see things from a different angle. I would love to chat about how I can fit your position and contribute to your company's success!
I studied Engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder, but the creative world has always fascinated me. I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, skiing competitively and making ski movies with my friends day in day out.
This eventually lead to an obsession with the world of photo and video. I started learning the craft through trail and error, online courses, and mentors already in the field.
I started shooting for brands in the Outdoor Industry and fell in love with the whole process from the execution and production side to the planning, management, and deliverables side.
My goal is to transition fully into the creative field, combining my corporate and creative skill set to work for a company in the Outdoor Industry, an industry I grew up in and aligns with my passion and values.
Ultimately, I plan to help generate, manage, and curate content that builds a community around the brand by empowering, inspiring, and connecting the audience with the company.
I have developed the listed skills and technical proficiencies while assigned to numerous assignments. My experience working as an engineer combined with the skills I've gained as a freelance photographer makes me a unique fit for any position.
Throughout my time working as a freelance photographer I have developed coordination, production, and management skills while assigned to the following projects.
I coordinated with Icemule and their digital marketing team to develop photo content for the launch of their new Traveler Series Cooler. This project had a tight budget with specific content and non-seasonal location goals while under strenuous time constraints.
LOCATION SCOUTING // BUDGET PLANNING // STAKEHOLDER COORDINATION // CREATIVE EXECUTION
I helped manage both a Southwest and Pacific North West trip for Colorway, an apparel/tech company. The goal of these trips was to produce product photo and video content for social and digital channels for the upcoming release of their new App.
TRAVEL LOGISTICS PLANNING // CONTENT DIVERSITY COTROL // PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT // SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT
On retainer for Birchbenders, a pancake and waffle mix company, I coordinated and shoot their product line for their social, digital, and retail channels. The goal of this project was to help them expand their customer base in the outdoor space.
LOCATION SCOUTING // ASSET MANAGEMENT // CREATIVE EXECUTION // PRODUCT MANAGEMENT & CONTROL
Working with Chums, an outdoor apparel company, and the digital marketing agency representing them I developed content for their social channels, focusing on organic moments instead of hero shots to help build brand identity and community.
MOUNTAIN STANDARD SEASONAL PRODUCT
I worked with Mountain Standard, an outdoor apparel company, to develop content for seasonal releases of products, focusing on highlighting the products in the environment they were built for.
Zenbivy, a backpacking sleeping bag company, developed a one of a kind technical bag system. I worked with Zenbivy to develop lifestyle content that highlighted the system’s features for brand awareness and education.
PET RELEAF EDITIORIAL ADVERTISING
Working with Pet Releaf, a CBD pet treat company, I developed content for the use of editorial advertisement with the goal of product education.
For the past couple of years I have been working as a Freelance Photographer working with brands in the Outdoor Industry creating content that fits the brands aesthetic and lifestyle. Largely self taught (with help from friends and the internet) I have gained working knowledge of the photography industry, including:
I currently work as an Environmental Engineer at CDM Smith in Denver, Colorado, reviewing floodplain revision for FEMA. Without getting into the nitty gritty of the day to day, I developed skills here that have strengthened my work ethic and work force experience, which include:
Strong organization skills
Experience working with clients
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
